QUESTION POSED ON: 12 February 2008
Does each routing protocol have a different routing table as in the format or structure? I.e., does RIP and IGRP have a different number of columns for specifying some different information related to the given protocol?

>
EXPERT RESPONSE
Devices maintain one routing table with the information associated with all routing protocols. Cost of routes, learned from different routing protocols, decides which one would be taken for a destination. The first alphabet denotes the routing protocol a particular route is learned from.
